Frequently Asked Questions

Can you refurbish our data centre without downtime?

In almost every case, yes. We plan refurbishments in phases and schedule the disruptive work — recabling, switch swaps, patching — after hours or over weekends so live systems stay up.

What's the difference between this and your Data Centre Design and Build service?

Design and Build is for new or greenfield server rooms. Refurbishment is for existing, occupied environments where equipment is already live and needs to be upgraded in place.

Can you upgrade our CAT5e cabling to CAT6A

Yes — this is one of the most common requests we get. We re-run structured cabling to CAT6A standard, re-terminate and re-patch, and test every run before handover.

Do you work out of hours or on weekends?

Yes, this is standard for refurbishment projects. Most cutover and cabling work is scheduled outside business hours specifically to avoid disrupting operations.

What happens to our old switches and cabling?

We remove and dispose of decommissioned equipment as part of the Full Modernisation package. Under Core Refurbishment, removal can be added on request.

How long does a typical refurbishment take?

A single-cabinet Core Refurbishment is usually completed in one to two scheduled visits. A Full Modernisation across multiple racks or rooms is scoped and phased during the design stage, based on your site’s constraints.
