Midstream Local IT Guy is Improving WiFi Speeds for homes

The Midstream Local IT Guy is the local WiFi support specialist for who is improving wifi speeds for the Estate homes. We work hard to improve WiFi speeds for the many homeowners in Midstream. We find similar situations whereby the main router from the ISP is performing well in the area installed. Most of the time it would be installed downstairs, when you go upstairs the WiFi signal is weak. Relying on a single ISP router to cover your entire large home is no longer viable. We provide simple solutions to improve your WiFi signal upstairs and throughout your entire home. Call Thabo on 0826703622 to discuss your WiFi problems.

The reason why your WiFi is not stable upstairs

The moment you have a weak WiFi signal, the performance of your home WiFi will be poor. The reason WiFi fails upstairs is that you are far from the main router. You will notice that your WiFi signal is weak when suddenly you experience slow speeds, too much buffering, and no internet connection. What causes weak signals from reaching every corner of your house, is due to obstacles within the house. Things like thick walls, floors (concrete slabs), and distance can affect how well your WiFi performs. Most homes here in Midstream have their fibre ONT installed outside and the internet router placed in the garage. Who wants to have the internet in the garage as the main point? Such a setup means you must have an advanced network setup with LAN cables running in all directions inside your walls.

So number one cause of your weak connection upstairs is caused by how the main router is placed. When the router is placed far away in your home or blocked by some obstacles you will need to consider available options to improve it.

How to Blanket your entire home with reliable WiFi?

We have had great success with the installation of the Nova mesh nodes we have supplied many of the residents in Midstream. What is the Nova mesh system? The Nova Mesh system is designed to eliminate dead zones in homes by creating a distributed network. The main node acts as a base station for the other nodes to create a single seamless roaming network. It combines the power of both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands and offers beamforming and QoS technology. Nova Mesh nodes are a smart way of boosting and blanketing your home with reliable and consistent WiFi without the need to run messy cables. Read more about Home Mesh WiFi here.

Another available option to blanket your home is by using Ceiling mounted Access Points. Wireless Access Points work similarly to the mesh system just the difference is you need to run messy cables throughout your home to the locations you need WiFi coverage. Many homes in the Midstream Estate were not built with cabling in mind. So improving wifi speeds with Access Point can be achieved in homes with ceiling access or with existing empty conduits with the walls. Instead of using Access Points some homes we install routers connected to the LAN network points

Should I use WiFi Range Extenders to get WiFi Upstairs?

We do not recommend using WiFi Range externders for large homes. They don’t magically fix the WiFi coverage as advertised on their boxes. What they actually do is rebroadcast your WiFi signal and that cuts your speeds. So getting full bars when using WiFi Range Extenders does not improve your WiFi speeds but actually makes things worse. So stay away from Wifi Range extenders.
