The Local IT Guy was tasked with solving WiFi coverage and inconsistent speeds at the SA Army HQ (Logistics Department) in Vasagie Street, Pretoria. The WiFi setup consisted of multiple WiFi extenders which were not meeting the demand of the users. The WiFi extenders that were used were not suitable for an office space that involved multiple users using the internet all at once.

Our WiFi Installation Solution

The WiFi installation started with a thorough assessment of the current setup and issues users faced. We then designed a WiFi solution that is suitable for high-density environments with multiple users using high bandwidth. High-density wifi involves designing a WiFi network with pervasive connectivity as the goal. This strategy provides seamless connectivity for areas with a lot of users, therefore, improving user experience and fast connectivity.

We installed multiple Access Points that were strategically placed to ensure seamless connectivity and fast roaming is achieved allowing mobility for the SA Army employees. We deployed MikroTik cAP ac Dual-band 802.11ac Wireless Access Point with each floor having consistent speeds. The APs were connected to a PoE unmanaged switch for power and a Mikrotik Routerboard router used as a controller.
